SKETCHBOOK JOURNALING WORKSHOP
Sketching A ROSE GARDEN
STEP-BY-STEP VIDEO INSTRUCTIONS & TIPS
In this super lovely class, I’m taking you with me virtually, as I explore an Italian rose garden and sketch it “live” (not from photos). Seeing how I approach this practice of plein air sketching is very valuable, since one thing is to work from the convenience of your home and studio, and another is to find yourself in “real life”, wanting to fill your sketchbook on location but having to face several challenges.
If you’re new to painting, don’t worry, you don’t need to be a skilled or confident artist to take part in this workshop! I’ll gently guide you through the whole process, and you will be able to learn various sketching techniques that will allow you to draw quickly and document your travels or everyday life in a fun and easy way.
OVER 2 HOURS OF VIDEO CONTENT
Unlimited access to this recorded workshop with more than 2 hours of edited video content. You can pause and work at your own pace, and watch and re-watch the videos as you please.
Learn to sketch a rose garden
Step-by-step instructions in real time (not accelerated). You’ll learn sketching techniques that you can use in your journaling practice, and tips and tricks from my experience of 30+ years as a daily painter. In this workshop, I’ll take you with me virtually as I go to an Italian rose garden with the purpose of exploring and sketching it.
Perfect for beginners
All levels are welcome. This workshop is beginner-friendly, as you can go at your own pace, and I’ll guide you through the whole process without skipping any step. If you’re a more experienced artist, you can take this class to whatever level you want to. It’s always interesting to see another artist’s approach, and there is so much to learn from one another!
TOOLS & MATERIALS NEEDED
We are going to use a black waterproof pen, watersoluble pencils and pastels, and a sketching pencil for this workshop. I will demonstrate all of these, but you can definitely do this workshop just with a regular graphite pencil or a waterproof pen. And of course, something to draw on, like a sketchbook or block of watercolor paper.
Of course I’m going to show you how I use the tools and supplies I have, and you can decide to try some of those things as well, if you feel excited and inspired. But you can definitely do this project with very simple materials and basic art supplies that you may already have.
I firmly believe you don’t ned to buy expensive materials in order to have fun, make gorgeous art, and end up with something that you really love.
