Let Go of the Outcome

How many times have you felt the pressure to do a perfect page and perfect painting in your journal?

What if we only did this for the JOY?

What if we only focused on the process, on the present moment, and let go ouf the outcome? What if we let go of perfectionism, and just painted freely and spontaneously, led by our heart?

I’ve always done this so naturally and instinctively all my life, when I was a little girl, and then later on as a teenager, and then again in adult life. I was not interested in the Internet at that time (other than emails for practical reasons), I had no blog or internet presence whatsoever, there was no Pinterest, no Instagram, no social.

No comparison, no pressure to make things perfect, or even look “finished”, for that matter.

Then, with the era of social media, we all started getting more and more focused on things that are completely unimportant, and forgot the important things.

Now, having painted in watercolor (and other mediums) for over 30 years, having worked as a professional Artist for quite a long time, having an unshakeable confidence in myself and my given talents, gifts and skills, I have a deep and rooted awareness of what’s important and what isn’t. What I have to focus on, and what I have to let go of.

And it’s with this confidence that I’m telling you, just let go of the attachment to the outcome. Who cares if your painting is not perfect, in the end? Who cares if somebody else doesn’t like it? Who cares if you don’t like it now (I can promise you’ll love and adore it weeks and months and years from now!!).

You should paint because it gives you JOY and it makes you feel good! Not to add to your stress & anxiety! If painting gives you headaches and causes you stress and tension, why are you doing it?

The only way to adjust your trajectory, is by choosing JOY. That means, letting go of perfectionism and the outcome.

You’ve got this! :)
